My Confident Hope

Archive for November, 2008

Thank You

I am thankful today for alot of things. First and foremost that I am a child of God and that in spite of all of what is going on the world today, I have a peace that passes all understanding. I am thankful for my family and the faith that they instilled in me from a child. I am thankful for my friends who are always there when I need them most. I am thankful to have a job and a job that makes a difference in people’s lives. I am thankful for each one of my kids that impacts me in their own special way. I am thankful for my church and the opportunity to learn and worship God each week. I was convicted the other day that I needed to be thankful every day, not just durning Thanksgiving. I heard this song on the radio and thought it was perfect for an occassion such as this.  Oh yeah….I am thankful for each person that I have met by blogging whether it is in person or on line. My life has defintely been impacted for good!

Sunday Setlist for 11/23/08

Sunday Setlist for House of Worship and Ministries Jesup, Ga

We had a great service today. We had communion at the end of the service and it was a sweet time. We just sang in the evening service. We sang some old songs, new songs, fast songs, slow songs. We sang Contemporary, Southern Gospel, Praise and Worship and Hymns. We even sang a few songs in both services. It is great to be apart of a church that is not afraid to embrace the new but does not throw the old. I still enjoy singing these songs sometimes.

The Simplicity of the Gospel

I was having a conversation with our chaplain at work today.  She was saying how she was amazed at the spiritual bent that some of our kids display. She said she really wants to do a study on spirituality with special needs. I wondered at how much some of our kids really grasped and she proceded to put it into perspective for me. She referred to one of our kids who’s IQ falls between 40 and 50 and when asked to draw a picture, drew a picture of herself and very simply put God good. I laughed and said that maybe these kids have a better understanding of God than we do. As adults, we have a tendency to make everything so blooming complicated. Most of the time we are to intellectual for our own good.

I have to believe that the Gospel is just that simple. This child may not be able to count past ten or say her alphabet but she has grasped that God is good. I also have to believe that one day when we get to heaven we may see more special needs people than we do preachers or theologians. After all, Jesus said unless we become like a little child, we cannot inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

Sunday Setlist for 11/16/08

I have been MIA as far as Sunday Setlist is concerned for the past few weeks. I was in Atlant last weekend and I had some super busy weeks and didn’t have  a chance to post, so here I am this week. We are having revival and so our setlists have been a little shorter to make time for the evangelist. It seems like it was a Hillsong week. We did Mighty to Save for the second time ever and we got a tremendous response from it.

I Thought Halloween Was Over

Last night I walked into my kitchen and turned on the light and on the door was the biggest spider that I have ever seen….or at least in my house anyway. So, I ran and got my camera and a shoe. I took a picture of the ugly creature and then whacked the spider as hard as I could with the shoe. I expected to see spider guts smeared on the door but instead the spider was still intact on the door. It was then that the spider decided to jump off the door and came running in my direction, so I did what any normal person would do, jump. The thing is, I have a stress fracture in my left foot and it took about 20 seconds for excrutiaiting pain to go shooting up my leg. My foot was more swollen than it had been previously. Luckily I had some painkillers from when I hurt my back a few months ago at work. The pain finally subsided and I still have no idea where the spider went!
