Sunday Setlist for 11/23/08

Sunday Setlist for House of Worship and Ministries Jesup, Ga

We had a great service today. We had communion at the end of the service and it was a sweet time. We just sang in the evening service. We sang some old songs, new songs, fast songs, slow songs. We sang Contemporary, Southern Gospel, Praise and Worship and Hymns. We even sang a few songs in both services. It is great to be apart of a church that is not afraid to embrace the new but does not throw the old. I still enjoy singing these songs sometimes.

Sunday Setlist for 11/16/08

I have been MIA as far as Sunday Setlist is concerned for the past few weeks. I was in Atlant last weekend and I had some super busy weeks and didn’t have  a chance to post, so here I am this week. We are having revival and so our setlists have been a little shorter to make time for the evangelist. It seems like it was a Hillsong week. We did Mighty to Save for the second time ever and we got a tremendous response from it.

It’s the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine

I have had this song stuck in my head all week thanks to Darla and her post on Tuesday. I finally have a few minutes to just sit and write all the thoughts that have been rolling around in my head this week. This post may be a bit discombobulated but bear with me.

I am disturbed that suddenly some people are proud to be Americans and others are not. Does the person sitting in the White House determine our patriotism. Are we that shallow, selfish, and spoiled that we can be so easily swayed? Regardless of who is President, we are still (in my opinion) the greatest nation in the world. Sure, we are a long way sometimes from the Christian foundation that our forefathers set, but the fact is, we still have freedom and we still have a voice to vote. Will that all change with this new administration? I honestly don’t know. Only time will tell.

I think it is time that Christians get off their butts, quit whining about who is President and be the church that God has called us to be. I think we have had it too easy. Most of us have no idea what it is like to have to stand up for what we believe in. Most of us have never really had our beliefs challenged. I think at this time, it is important for us to get in the Word and know what we believe. People all over the world are killed and persecuted for their faith, but we Americans love to sit and whine about what is wrong with our country but don’t want to get our fat butts off our padded pews and change it.

My brother and I had a conversation this weekend about how radical Jesus was when He was on earth. He came to earth during one of the most corrupt political and religious systems. What stands out to me was that He was harder on the corrupt religious system than He was on the corrupt political system. Say what you want, but the Roman Empire was corrupt! He instructed His disciples to render unto Caesar what is Caesar and render to God what is Gods. I think that His instructions are clear. We are to obey the government that we are under. It doesn’t matter whether we agree with them or not. Paul was also very clear about this in Romans……again written during the Roman Empire. If Jesus came to earth today, I strongly feel that He  would not be in most of our churches. He would probably go in and turn over the Starbucks tables. He would be on the streets where most of us never venture to go. He would be with the homeless, the prostitutes, the drug addicts, the alcoholics, and so on. You think He would upset the religious establishment of today? Heck yeah!! It is time we get out of our four walls and go to the highways and hedges and compel them to come.

On a positive note, America still has some values and morals. I think a victory was won in California with the defeat of the gay marriage ban. Unfortunately, I think it will eventually pass, but for now we can still hold onto our traditional values.

On election day in the middle of all the politics an article jumped out at me. It seems that the tv execs at ABC have decided to stop writing story lines for homosexual characters. They have done this on several of their big programs like Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy. Again, their is still some life left in traditional values.

Finally,( I sound like a preacher wrapping up his sermon!) I am not disturbed at all about what is going on in the world. I know that my God is greater than any religious or political system. He is the one who sets up kings and brings them down. If God chose to do His greatest miracle of sending His son to the earth to be the payment of our sin during one of the most corrupt empires, imagine what He can do in our world today!

Sunday Setlist for 10/12/08

Sunday Setlist for House of Worship and Ministries Jesup, Ga

This Sunday was a special Sunday. We have a family in our church that puts on a rodeo every year in Screven, Ga and our church has played a big role in the rodoe for the past few years. Our pastor has been doing Cowboy Church with the cowboys and cowgirls for the pst few years and this year, he got to have church with the whole areana. There was probably close to 2,000 people there Friday and Saturday night combined. What a forum to be able to share the gospel. Today was Cowboy Sunday and we were able to have the cowboys come to our church. Our music was a little different today and we went really old school on some songs. The best part was that there were several people today and throughout the weekend that gave their lives to Christ. What a great ministry to get involved in!

You Know You’re A Redneck….Part 2

In case you missed Part 1 you can check it out here. So, yesterday was Outdoor Sunday at my church. This is a special day to get men to come to church. Hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling and food…..what man would not want to come to church. This is our third year doing this but it never ceases to crack me up that people get all decked out in their camo just to come to church. I am pretty sure that South Georgia is one of the few areas that could actually pull this off. I have to admit it is alot of fun and gives us an opportunity to minister to people that might not otherwise come to church. So, once a year I pull out my camo pants and head off to church to celebrate the great outdoors

Never to uoung to start

Never to young to start

Sunday Setlist for 9/14/08

Sunday Setlist for House of Worship and Ministries Jesup, Ga

Everything was back on track today with all of our muscians making it back from Rock the Universe. It was a good day and one of those services where the Praise Team stayed on the platform the whole time ready to sing whatever song the pastor felt like singing. That can get interesting some times. He talked about how no weapon formed against us will prosper. It was an awesome reminder of the promises of God.
