Time in Between

One of my new favorite Christian artists is Francesca Battistelli. Her album My Paper Heart is fantastic. Not a bad song on the album!! One of my favorite songs is one called Time in Between. There is one part of that song has stuck in my spirit.

Don’t take much for this crazy world
To rob me of my peace
And the enemy of my soul
Says You’re holding out on me
So I stand here lifting empty hands
For you to fill me up again

(Chorus  Two)
But it’s the time in between
That I fall down to my knees
Waiting on what You’ll bring
And the things that I can’t see
I know my song’s incomplete
Still I’ll sing in the time in between

It is so difficult sometimes to wait on God can be hard. We know deep down that God is good and the things that He has for us are the best, but it is easy to get ahead of God and take things into our own hands. That is when we make a royal mess of things! Satan tries to tell us that God is holding out on us, but He is not…..He is just waiting for the right moment to bring the right things into our life. So, in the time in between I will wait for God to bring me the good and perfect things that He has promised me.

The Power of Your Name

I came across this song this weekend and it just blew me away. I find that at seasons in my life, a song will show up that defines it all for me and this was the case with this song. The chorus has been my prayer the past few days since hearing the song.

I will live
To carry Your compassion
To love a world that’s broken
To be Your hands and feet
I will give
With the life that I’ve been given
And go beyond religion
To see the world be changed
By the power of Your name

That is exactly what we have been called to do as Christians and it is my prayer that God will use me to be His hands and feet to change the world by the power of His Name.

Sunday Setlist for 11/23/08

Sunday Setlist for House of Worship and Ministries Jesup, Ga

We had a great service today. We had communion at the end of the service and it was a sweet time. We just sang in the evening service. We sang some old songs, new songs, fast songs, slow songs. We sang Contemporary, Southern Gospel, Praise and Worship and Hymns. We even sang a few songs in both services. It is great to be apart of a church that is not afraid to embrace the new but does not throw the old. I still enjoy singing these songs sometimes.

Sunday Setlist for 11/16/08

I have been MIA as far as Sunday Setlist is concerned for the past few weeks. I was in Atlant last weekend and I had some super busy weeks and didn’t have  a chance to post, so here I am this week. We are having revival and so our setlists have been a little shorter to make time for the evangelist. It seems like it was a Hillsong week. We did Mighty to Save for the second time ever and we got a tremendous response from it.

The Greatest Generation

I had the opportunity on Sunday to go up and visit my grandmother before heading back south. When I got there, they were eating lunch so I had a seat in an empty wheelchair and chatted with my grandmother and the other lady that were sitting at her table. During a lull in the conversation, I looked around and realized that these part of the remnant of people who have been dubbed “The Greatest Generation”. I thought back on the historical moments that have witnessed and been apart of. These were the people who grew up in the Depression, Fought in World War II, witnessed both attacks on American soil at Pearl Harbor and the Twin Towers. They’ve lived through the Korean War, Vietnam War, the Cold War, and both Gulf Wars. They had front row seats to the assinations of JFK, RFK, and MLK. They were on the front lines of the racial riots and witnessed both segregation and then de-segragation. Now in the waning years of their lives, they have witnessed the first African-American to be elected to the highest position in the land…..President.

Then in the background, I heard popular music from the 30’s and 40’s and I flash forwarded about 50 years and I was sitting in a nursing home, eating dinner and listening to Guns N’ Roses and Def Leppard!

If Your Going Through Hell…….

I was at a blog party Saturday night and they did a drawing for some prizes. I won a couple of country cds. I am not a huge country music fan but as I got to looking at the them, I realized that I knew one song. It was a song by Rodney Atkins. It is called “If your going through hell.” I laughed because the reason that I knew that song was because our pastor has played it a few times in church. I know, only in South Georgia can you play country music in church! I gave the cd’s to a friend of mine who enjoys country music and so the music is put to good use. So, if your going through hell just keep on going, you just might get out before the devil even knows your there!
